Budapest will not block the work of the NATO mission in Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said after negotiations with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Budapest.
“The Prime Minister of Hungary clearly stated that Hungary will not participate in these efforts (to coordinate assistance to Ukraine), I accepted this position. I am also glad that the Prime Minister of Hungary and I agreed on the terms of Hungary’s non-participation in efforts to support Ukraine "Hungarian representatives will not participate in such activities, Hungarian funds will not be used for this," he said.
He also added that the agreement on Hungary’s non-participation in the NATO mission in Ukraine provides that Budapest will not block decision-making by the rest of the alliance members.
In turn, Orban noted that during the negotiations he received from Stoltenberg the guarantees Budapest needed.
“I asked the Secretary General to clarify that all NATO military actions outside the territory of the alliance, in accordance with NATO rules and traditions, can only be voluntary,” the politician said.
According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, Stoltenberg confirmed this position.

В то же время Столтенберг заявил, что никто из венгерского персонала не будет принимать участие в поддержке НАТО в вопросе Украины.
"Никто из венгерского персонала не будет участвовать в этой деятельности, и никакие финансы Венгрии не будут использованы, чтобы ее поддерживать. В то же время премьер-министр меня заверил, что Венгрия не будет против этих усилий и позволит другим союзникам продвигаться вперед", - сказал генсек НАТО.
