French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed he did not rule out sending troops to Ukraine, saying the issue would “legitimately” arise if Russia broke through Ukrainian front lines and Kyiv made such a request, in an interview with the Economist published Thursday.
“I’m not ruling anything out, because we are facing someone who is not ruling anything out,” said Macron when asked if he stood by comments earlier this year not excluding the sending of Western troops that sent shockwaves around Europe.[AFP]

ReplyDeleteLe président français a de nouveau assumé la possibilité d'envoyer des troupes occidentales au sol en Ukraine, estimant dans un entretien publié jeudi par The Economist qu'il faudrait "se poser la question" si Moscou "allait percer les lignes de front" et que Kiev le demandait.
Президент Франции Эммануэль Макрон допустил отправку войск на Украину. Однако при двух условиях: если ВС России «прорвутся через линию фронта» и если Киев попросит помощи. Об этом он заявил в интервью журналу The Economist.
ReplyDelete«Если бы русские прорвались через линию фронта, если бы поступил запрос от Украины, чего сегодня нет, нам по закону пришлось бы задать себе этот вопрос», - заявил он.
По его словам, если Киев выступит с соответствующим запросом, Франция получит легитимные основания для обсуждения отправки войск на Украину.
