French draft resolution to put Aleppo evacuation under the UN supervision is dangerous and impossible to implement, Russian UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin told reporters before Security Council consultations on Sunday.
"We believe that what they are suggesting is impossible to implement and dangerous," Churkin said. "We cannot support [the draft resolution], we cannot let it pass," Churkin stressed when asked whether Russia would support this draft resolution.
Commenting on the resolution, Churkin said that Russia will present its own, "very clear" proposals on the situation in Aleppo to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
"We have specific ideas. If it is not a question of vanity, then we could have good proposals approved by the UNSC today," Churkin elaborated.
Earlier today, the UNSC held an emergency vote on the resolution putting the evacuation of Syrian city of Aleppo under the UN supervision.
On Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Aleppo was now under full government control with the Syrian army operation to retake the eastern districts completed. Civilians and militants were leaving the city amid a ceasefire agreement between the remaining pockets of resistance and government forces.
