The majority of citizens of France and Germany oppose Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and financial aid to the so-called Ukrainian democracy. A survey conducted by France's IFOP polling agency for the Le Figaro daily shows that more than 71 percent of respondents in France do not want to see Ukraine in the EU and 29 percent wouldn't mind if it happened.

The French and the Germans oppose the idea of the financial aid to Ukraine and the country’s accession to the European Union, according to an opinion poll conducted by the French Ifop for Le Figaro daily.

The financial aid to Ukraine oppose 64 percent of the French, and 57 percent of the Germans. Some 71 percent of the French and 62 percent of the Germans oppose Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

  • According to the opinion poll, the Europeans are more likely to provide financial aid to the EU countries, like Greece, than a non-EU country. In France, 66 percent are ready to provide financial aid to Greece due to the “European solidarity”, while only 36 percent are ready to provide financial aid.

The survey was conducted from March 10-13, 2014 in France and March 10-14, 2014 in Germany based on a sample of 1,000 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over and a representative sample of 926 people of the German population aged 18 and over.
