SOCHI, February 07. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has
thanked Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan for Turkish
construction companies’ aid to preparing for the Olympic Games.
“We’re grateful to Turkish constructors for them to work at the facilities in Sochi,” Putin said opening a meeting with Turkish prime minister on Friday.
“Our specialists were pleased: Turkish constructors worked professionally without wasting time and made a considerable contribution to the preparation of the Olympic Games,” the president said, adding: “These are common Olympic Games.”
Since the beginning of 1990’s Turkish construction companies executed orders amounting to $50 billion, the Russian president said.
Erdogan said he followed the companies’ participation. He expressed hope that they would be able to make contribution to preparing and holding 2018 FIFA World Cup. “I believe that our construction companies are preparing to take part in this event,” he said.
In addition, Putin said Russian-Turkish relations were developing in other fields as well. “Last year trade volume reduced. I think that we can close this gap,” the Russian president said.
Putin thanked Erdogan for visiting Sochi and wished Turkish athletes success at the Olympic Games. “Besides, Russian specialists trained your figure skating pairs. We’ll also support them,” he said.
The Turkish prime minister said he was hopeful that these were the Turkish team’s first steps at the Olympic Games.

Turkey is our primary partner: Russia’s Putin....
ReplyDeleteTurkey is the primary partner of Russia, President Vladimir Putin said Feb. 7 after talks with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Sochi, putting an emphasis on energy trade between two countries.
Erdoğan was in the Black Sea resort to attend the opening ceremony of the long-awaited Sochi Winter Games. Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, Energy Minister Taner Yıldız and Sports Minister Akif Çağatay Kılıç accompanied the prime minister during his visit.
Erdoğan praised the sport complexes built for the event and expressed hopes that the games would serve as a symbol of peace and freedom. “Here I saw the successful works done by Turkish construction companies,” Erdoğan said, adding that Turkish companies could play a similar role for the FIFA 2018 World Cup, which will also be held in Russia.
Erdoğan said the trade volume between Turkey and Russia was in a good condition, while stressing the importance of energy cooperation. For his part, Putin said he was pleased to welcome Erdoğan to Sochi and that Turkey was the primary partner of “close neighbor” Russia.
“We have friendly relations, and it has [more] potential. It is enough to say 4 million of Russian tourists came to Turkey last year and that the construction work by Turkish companies in Russia amounts to $50 billion since the 1990s,” Putin said. “All of our experts are satisfied with Turkish construction companies. They did their jobs in a professional and devoted way.”..............http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkey-is-our-primary-partner-russias-putin.aspx?pageID=238&nID=62196&NewsCatID=359
