President of FYROM, George Ivanov has addressed a letter to the new president of the European Council Donald Tusk where he demands support for the Euro integration process of FYROM.
“I’d like to demand from You, as a friend of both countries, to present the status quo of our country in front of the European Council. I believe that the question that must be addressed to PM Samaras is: What has Greece to lose if our country is given the date for the start of negotiations? Is it not in the interest of Greece to have in its Northern border a European neighbor with high European standards and values? The unblocking of Euro integration process would offer great confidence and an atmosphere of stability and regional welfare”, says president Ivanov.
Ivanov said that in the recent period, South East Europe had two positive examples of negotiations for accession and overcoming bilateral differences, such as the case with Slovenia and Croatia and the talks between Pristina and Belgrade.
Ivanov has also demanded the meeting between PMs Nikola Gruevski and Andonis Samaras to be encouraged in order to overcome the name dispute. “I encourage you to be more personally involved in unblocking the Euro integration process and motivate both PMs to meet, in order to overcome bilateral differences”, said president Ivanov. /ibna/
