A bomb attack targeted a NATO forces ' military convoy in eastern
Afghanistan's Parwan province overnight, and casualties remained
unknown, said a security source on Saturday.
"An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted under a bridge went off in Du-Saraka locality, Bagram District of Parwan province last night. The attack took place when a NATO military convoy was passing by the area, and the bridge was destroyed as a result of the blast," a security source told Xinhua.
The main US and NATO forces' military base is located in the district in the province, 65 km north of Afghan capital of Kabul.
"Our security forces confirmed the explosion but we still cannot provide details on potential causalities," the source noted.
Earlier reports by the Afghan local media said that the explosion occurred early Saturday morning.
The Taliban insurgent group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
Zabiullah Mujahid, a Taliban purported spokesman, told local media that the insurgents' fighters carried out a roadside bomb attack against a foreign military convoy in Parwan Friday night, killing and injuring several troopers.

A series of attacks across Afghanistan have killed more than a dozen people, including 12 workers clearing land mines in the country's south and seven Afghan soldiers in Kabul.
The largest attack on Saturday targeted the Shorab camp in Helmand province, where the demining workers were based, Afghan police spokesman Farid Ahmad Obaid told the Associated Press news agency.
Ghulam Farouk Parwani, a military commander at the camp, told Al Jazeera that six workers were also wounded in the attack in Helmand.
The deminers, who lived on the base, were reportedly travelling to work in the Nad Ali district when they were attacked, Parwani said.
The Afghan army and the air force launched a counterattack, killing four of the assailants and capturing three, he told Al Jazeera.
Meawnhile, a suicide attack on Saturday evening in the Afghan capital killed seven government troops, and injured 18 others, including civilians.

At least 65 suspected Taliban militants were killed and 44 others were injured in clashes in six provinces of Afghanistan in the last 24 hours, Afghan authorities said Saturday...

“Afghan army troops have killed 54 Taliban insurgents and injured 42 others. At least 12 other militants were also arrested,” Defense Ministry Spokesman Zahir Azimi said.
Azimi added that two Afghan army soldiers were also killed in roadside bomb attacks.
The Ministry of Interior said in a statement that police also killed 11 militants and wounded two others.
“Afghan National Police conducted several anti-terrorism operations in Baghlan, Kunduz, Faryab, Ghazni, Paktika and Herat provinces to clean some of the areas from terrorists and enemies of peace and stability of Afghanistan,” the interior ministry statement said.
“Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds of ammunition,” it added.
