No sounds of the firing are heard at the moment at the military unit in Mariupol, southern Ukraine, where unidentified people broke late on Wednesday, the website of the city on the Sea of Azov reports.
It quotes eyewitnesses as saying several minibuses drove to the military unit of Ukraine’s interior forces at about 8 pm, local time (9 pm Moscow time). They said people wearing grey uniforms had got out and pelted the premises with Molotov cocktails. Shots could be heard in response. According to the website, one person was killed and 12 were wounded and taken to hospital.
At about 1 am local time on Thursday, the website reported military hardware moving towards Mariupol from the direction of the settlement of Starodubovka. After that, it said that sounds of the firing at the military unit had stopped.
It was reported on Wednesday, that protesters had seized and were holding the Mariupol mayor’s office.
